"Adolescence in the world, world of the adolescent"

 Ado-Dijon2017

The world currently faces multiple transformations and changes similar to the mutations and identity upheavals in adolescents. These ones are often designated as source of societal concern and discomfort, especially in administrative, judicial, health and educational institutions, in the streets, the neighborhoods, even in the national borders. Actually, adolescents are the ones who carry and express all the transformations of the world today, its contradictions, shadows, violence, but also its hope.

What is it to be an adolescent in the world today? How societal changes can resonate with the identity developments and redevelopments in adolescents of our world? Beyond the family and the institutions, what can the “surrounding-world” offer to the adolescents searching for an ideal?

This congress suggests to think about adolescence as an analysis process of identity vulnerabilities in the contemporary world. The adolescent struggling with several identifying points. The aim is to question the psychological, somatic, social, group, cultural, cross-cultural and world process that participate in the current adolescent issues. It is also about the matching between the adolescent and his/her surroundings. The congress then strives to assess the way the global world changes can resound in the adolescents’ internal world, but also how the emergence of adolescents’ experience can offer a critical insight on the ‘living-together in harmony” in our societies.

Psychologists, psychiatrists, psychoanalysts, mental-health practitioners, researchers in human and social sciences hailing from a wide variety of geographical, disciplinary, and cultural backgrounds are very welcome to share the results of their research and their thoughts regarding topics on adolescents of/in the world today: identity, interculturality, globalization, violence, migration, trauma, radicalization, but also creativity, resilience, social bond, emotional life and loving feeling, emerging technologies.
